Learn to read. Build your robot. Save the robot galaxy.

Robot Reading is a colourful learning adventure for iOS and Android that helps children build early reading, speaking and writing skills through play.

Players create and name their own robot before travelling across the galaxy to stop the villainous Terrible Tron.

Terrible Tron has stolen the supercharger that powers the robots’ home world. Without it, the robots cannot recharge their batteries. Players must use their growing literacy skills to explore four unique worlds, recover the supercharger and make the robots happy again.

Children meet a cast of robot friends and the villainous Terrible Tron, learning to read as they work together through a short, fun and fully animated story.

Learning drives the adventure

Children guide their robot through each level by answering questions rather than mastering difficult platform controls.

Activities include:

  • Letter and sound recognition
  • Blending and segmenting sounds
  • Sight words
  • Letter formation
  • Spelling
  • Sentence construction
  • Speaking sounds, words and sentences aloud

Children answer using simple buttons, by dragging letters and words into place, or by speaking directly to the app.

Each correct answer helps their robot move forward, overcome an obstacle or trigger a fun and unexpected action.

Build your own robot

Learning rewards children with new robot parts inspired by familiar household appliances, including fridges, toasters, lamps and kettles.

Players can combine different bodies, heads, arms, legs, colours and accessories to create their own unique robot. With thousands of possible combinations, every new part gives children another reason to keep learning, experimenting and personalising their character.

Children can mix and match appliance-inspired robot parts, colours and accessories to create 1,000s of unique character combinations.

Learn by speaking

Robot Reading includes bespoke Audio Voice Listen technology that allows children to speak directly to the app.

Children begin by practising individual letter sounds and simple words. As their confidence grows, they progress to reading complete sentences aloud.

The app listens to their response and provides supportive feedback, helping children develop pronunciation, reading fluency and confidence.

Explore four unique worlds

The adventure takes players across four colourful locations:

  • Orth, the forest world
  • Maracix, the desert planet
  • Uraberg, the ice world
  • Seatune, the ocean moon

Each world introduces new environments, animated obstacles and literacy challenges before players face Terrible Tron, stop his plan and recover the supercharger!

Platforming designed for every learner

Between lessons, children see their customised robot travel through carefully designed platform levels.

The platforming includes clear scaffolding, guidance and assistance so children can enjoy the action without difficult controls or being left behind. Educational answers determine how the robot moves, which path it takes and how it overcomes each obstacle.

This keeps the experience exciting while ensuring learning remains the focus.

Learning at a comfortable pace

Interaction breaks are built into each level, giving children natural moments to pause between lessons.

Progress is saved throughout the experience, so children can leave midway through a level and return later to continue from where they stopped. This supports shorter learning sessions at home or in the classroom without requiring a child to restart an activity

.

A simple and captivating story

Fun, fully animated cutscenes bring the adventure to life.

Characters use lip-synched dialogue, expressive animation and narration to tell a simple but engaging story for young children.

The cutscenes introduce each world, celebrate progress and build towards the final confrontation with Terrible Tron.

Drag-and-drop activities, simple button controls and voice guidance support children with different abilities, with built-in scaffolding helping every learner complete each exercise with confidence.

Tools for teachers

Robot Reading includes a teacher tool that allows educators to tailor lesson content for classroom delivery.

Teachers can select activities that focus on the sounds, words and literacy skills currently being taught to their class, learning group or individual students.

This supports guided lessons, small-group activities and independent learning.

Designed for young learners

Robot Reading combines:

  • Clear visual instructions
  • Spoken prompts
  • Simple interactions
  • Immediate feedback
  • Supported platforming
  • Natural learning breaks
  • Automatic mid-level progress saving
  • Playful animations and rewards
  • Multiple player profiles for shared devices

The responsive design adapts seamlessly across tablets and phones, ensuring every user enjoys a clear, accessible and engaging experience on any screen size.
