Created for the new Sydney Pride exhibition at Madame Tussauds Sydney, this interactive virtual dress-up experience transforms every visitor into part of the celebration. Using a combination of Google MediaPipe, Kinect body tracking and custom computer vision technology, guests create their own Pride-inspired look before capturing a personalised selfie that joins a live digital Pride Parade inside the museum.

Madame Tussauds Sydney wanted an attraction that celebrated individuality while encouraging every visitor to become an active part of the new Sydney Pride exhibition.
We developed a fully interactive augmented reality dress-up experience that requires nothing more than stepping beneath the installation. Using a combination of Google MediaPipe, Microsoft Kinect and our own custom computer vision technology, visitors are automatically detected, scanned for height and body proportions, then transformed with an extensive collection of virtual Pride-inspired appearance items.
Guests can customise their look using four interactive categories:
Once complete, visitors are given a moment to capture a selfie and then their created look becomes part of the museum's daily digital Pride Parade, allowing every guest to contribute to the exhibition itself.

Behind the playful experience is a sophisticated real-time computer vision pipeline designed to make every virtual item feel naturally attached to the visitor.
The installation combines Google MediaPipe facial landmark tracking, Microsoft Kinect depth and body tracking, and our own custom runtime fitting technology to automatically adapt each virtual item to the individual.
Our custom developed system:
The result is a seamless experience that works across a wide range of body shapes and heights without requiring controllers, markers or wearable devices.
Every visitor can create their own personalised appearance by combining virtual items across four categories.
With hundreds of individual assets available, the installation generates thousands of unique combinations, ensuring every selfie feels personal while encouraging visitors to experiment with different Pride-inspired styles.
The responsive interface makes changing appearance items fast and intuitive, allowing visitors to focus on creativity rather than technology.

The experience doesn't end when the photo is taken.
Once visitors finish creating their Pride look, their personalised selfie is submitted to a continuously updating digital Pride Parade displayed throughout the museum.
This transforms every participant into part of the attraction itself, encouraging repeat visits, social sharing and a stronger sense of community throughout the exhibition.
The installation has become a signature feature of Madame Tussauds Sydney's annual Pride celebrations, delivering a memorable interactive experience that combines entertainment with innovative technology.
By integrating Google MediaPipe, Microsoft Kinect and custom-developed computer vision software, the attraction delivers reliable full-body tracking, accurate face mapping and convincing virtual clothing without requiring specialised wearable hardware.
The result is a highly engaging museum experience that creates memorable selfie moments, celebrates diversity and continues to attract visitors during Sydney's annual Pride Festival.

Rather than simply viewing the exhibition, visitors were welcomed to become part of it.
Our custom computer vision solution combines Google MediaPipe facial tracking with Microsoft Kinect body tracking to create a seamless virtual dress-up experience that automatically adapts to every participant. The result is thousands of unique Pride-inspired looks, memorable photo opportunities and a continuously evolving digital Pride Parade made up of real museum visitors.
The installation has become a recurring highlight of Sydney's annual Pride Festival, celebrating creativity, diversity and inclusion through innovative interactive technology.

Thank you Mode for believing in the kids we work with and throwing everything that you and the team had at this project. And finally – thanks for delivering a super cool and engaging game. Hip hop meets maths and science – got me hooked!

We had the pleasure to work with the Mode Team on the development of digital learning apps for the Early Learning STEM Australia (ELSA) and the ELSA schools program. The final products (on both occasions) were innovative and conceptually strong, in part because Shane and his team has a unique skill to establishes a strong nexus between creative design and functional use.

Mode's commitment to craft has always been impressive. The team is a pleasure to work with, and their instincts for what makes a game feel great mean the final product always lands better than I'd originally imagined. I look forward to the next project we can work on together.
